My husband and I just purchased a H16. The previous owner had purchased a new mast head (I think that is what its called.... the thing at the very top that the halyard goes through to pull up the main) as well as a baby bob. We would like to install both of these but have no instructions or idea on how to get started any info/tips would be greatly appreciated! |

Try http://static.hobiecat.com/2010_archive/support/pdfs/30116.pdf for the baby bob instalation. As far as the mast head goes I've never changed mine out, but I think it may depend on if you have an all aluminum mast, or have the comp tip. I imagine that you just squirt some silicon inbetween the mast and the mast head to seal it, then use some aluminum or stainless steel pop rivits to attach the two. I'm sure someone else with more experience will chime in. |

I've got the same problem with replacing the masthead on a Hobie 17. There are no instructions on how the original one was installed, nor how to get it out. This creates problems deciding how to remove the old one. I don't want to damage the mast in the process. In my case the problem is compounded because a previous repair did a jury rigged job using a pulley in place of the masthead. ![]() |
