Post subject:  Roller furling jib setup

Can someone explain the correct way this should be done on the 16? I'm assuming that the roller connects directly to the forestay adjuster, then the forestay and the jib connect to the top of it, then both to some sort of pigtail at the top, which then connects to the swivel, which connects to the mast via a shackle? Reason I ask is I have a roller, a swivel and Y-shaped pigtail with one leg shorter than the other and I'm not quite sure how it should all fit together. (I mean, I can make it work, but I'd like to have it set up correctly, not just throwing it all together)

Thanks =)

H16 furler?

Don't know about a "Y" shapes pigtail. That sounds like an Aussie pigtail, not a furler one.

The USA kits tell you to go bridles, furler, jib tack, jib head, swivel with pigtail, 10 hole adjuster upside down, 1/4 shackle to Shroud shackle.

One more question (forget the furler entirely), does the aussie setup have the jib block hooked to the short leg or long leg of the Y pigtail?

The older version had a one piece setup "Y". Long forestay and short pigtail for the block (we are talking full length forestay wire). New one has a seperate wire forestay and short pigtail with block.

If it is a pigtail with two similar length short wires, but one longer? Not sure what that is. May not be factory stuff.

Aha, I found it, and it has nothing to do with the furler, I got a bunch of extra random stuff with the boat I bought and all these pieces were there (the boat is still set up stock at the moment as far as I can tell). Its from the aussie halyard kit from Murrays (page 23 of the catalog), which solves my mystery, so it looks like the block for the aussie bit goes on the short one, and the forestay hooks to the longer piece (as the whole assembly seems to be the same length as the original small pigtail + the part which had the jib pully. I'm slowly getting it all figured out =)
