Post subject:  Gooseneck fitting / Boom attachment

My question regards the gooseneck attachment to the boom. I recently purchased a '75 hobie with 2 sets of sails. Both sets (one original, I assume; and one much newer, crisp sails) have the gooseneck at an odd angle in relation to the boom. The gooseneck attachment [to the boom] is tight and approx. 35 degrees off straight up and down. This has the boom "twisted" to starboard the same 35 degrees. Is this right?

I suspect corrosion in both. The boom pin should pivot at least 30-45 degrees.

Thanks Matt. I suspected it might swivel and was pretty sure it should at least sit verticle. I do see electrolysis around the fitting. I will try to soak it in hot water to get to release. I've been told this is a good method that does no harm and avoids chemical "looseners".
