Tried a search, but no luck... My '08 mast seems a little heavy compared to my previous '98 one. It shows no sign that it has leaked. I attempted to weigh it and got ~45 lbs., including both halyards, but my technique was iffy at best. Anyone know what this thing oughta' weigh? |

I'd say 44-45 lbs is pretty much the norm. Weight noted when stepping vs the old one? |

Thanks, Matt M. It just feels a little heavier when I step it and a little harder to draw it forward when tightening the rig with the jib halyard. Matt B.: You're probably right! Funny thing is that I sail with folks who are even older, have bad knees, etc., and I often step their masts for them! |

When we step event boat masts... we have someone pull on the forestay to assist. They stand on the forward crossbar and lean out forward and step off the crossbar as the mast comes up. Takes a load off the guy on the tramp when the mast is mostly horizontal... and when doing 64 at a time you need all the help you can get! |
