I've been on the lookout for a parts boat on cl because I need a new mast and a few other parts. I came across this older boat with yellow hulls that look like it had been sitting for some time. The original post said how everything was included and it had "newer" sails. I was intrigued by the newer sails so I decided to take a better look. It had no trailer, and was listed for $300. It was 2.5 hours from me and I would have to spend about $75 on gas get there and back. The boat ended up being an 84' with yellow hulls and it had everything that I needed for parts. Then the seller showed me the "newer" sails. He then pulled this main sail out.

I about hit the floor. The sail felt so new that I believe the 85 nationals might have been the last time it was used. I found the boat in Traverse City, MI where the 85 national were held. I couldn't believe that it still looked this good after all these years. It was a nice bonus for a $300 boat. He didn't have the jib to go along with it.

So what should I do with it? Sell it? Sail it? What's it worth? I might just sail it, I've never used new sails before. It would be nice to find a matching jib.

Reef points, wow! :)

You could possibly just get a matching jib from Hobie. I'd keep that sail, for sure.

That sail looks worthless... Ship it to me and I can properly dispose of it for you.

Seriously... I would buy a new jib in yellow...

Nice score!!!

Depending on what it's worth to you I would have a buyer for that sail. Great find!
