Ernesto blew up to 70 mph for 4 hours last Friday and my old hobie 16 broke the tiedowns and was flipped off the trailer onto the port hull and impaled by the verticle roller. I need to fix this what's the best way Thanks Charlie |

The easiest way is to find a shop that can handle foam core hulls. If you're brave repair the inner hull first by glassing over the hole. Put some cardboard inside the hull and hold it in place with string and glass over that. Get some Great Stuff expanding foam and fill the void between the inner and outer hull. Let it sit for 24 hours. Shape and, if there's any dips, smooth out with Bondo. Glass over the foam and sand smooth. The really hard part will be to match the hull color unless it's white. Good luck!! |

Good to hear from another Hobie in the area. We have a group of 12 - 15 boats that sail on the Swift Creek Resevoir. We have a race this Saturday. Skippers meeting at 11:30. Race at noon. Some of these guys have fiberglass experience & would be glad to give you some ideas on the fix for your boat. Come to Sunday Park in Brandermill! |
