I have the original jib on my 1984 Hobie 16. The battens were hinged, one hinge broke, and I couldn't find replacement hinges. So, I bought a set of Super Battens to replace them. The original battens were tied, but these just have blunt capped ends. How do I install Super Battens properly? Thanks. |

Drill a hole in the end caps. |

I've had customers say the same thing but so far all super jib battens I've seen do have a hole, it's just real hard to see as the rubber cap will close up and hide it. For a really clean install, I mark the batten just longer than the pocket and cut them even shorter so only 1/4 to 1/2 in is sticking out. Then I us a very thin wax coated string to tie them in, mine is heavier than dental floss but I know others that use it with no problems. That keeps the knots very small with no chance of grabbing the halyard. |

Thanks for the advice, guys. I didn't know they had to be modified, so I was a little confused when they arrived. |
