Hobie 16 factory flotation is foam blocks. Can someone advise where the flotation is placed? I am about to add two inspection ports and would like to remove sogged foam, if possible. Thanks. |

The foam block is located between the two pylons. sm |

Much thanks. I thought as much but had to be sure, before I cut hull for port. I was worried their might be foam forward of bow-end pylon and aft of stern pylon. Will cut about 20 inches abaft of forward pylon and dig flotation out in chunks. Will replace with pool-noodles. Again, appreciated and quick response was timely. |

I just ripped open a set of old hulls, and all the foam was between the pylons. |

Matt and Waldorf, yep the foam blocks are between the pylons, thanks. Had seen the vid, but not sure about the foam, as on the 18 the foam was aft of the pylons. I am installing two ports, one between the pylons, one aft of aft pylon. Amazing, the H-16 foam was dry and intact, so am leaving it in place. No delam; sealed the between foam with epoxy, does not rain, will install the ports today and let the cure. Am working with a Hobie 18 hull and a 16. The 18 foam was sogged and wet and removed it for pool noodles, the 16 was fine. All is well. |
