Good Evening Fellow Sailers,

I dropped by H16 in the backyard so I can bring the trailer down to the shop for leaf spring replacements. While heading to the shop one of my tie down straps from the custom Hobie kit (1793) came apart and is lost. Anyone know if its possible to buy the straps in individual pieces instead of an entire kit?

As far as I can tell (as you know from the page you got that image from), those straps are BoatBuckles but I could not find that exact configuration except through Hobie. And I have only seen them as part of the complete kit of four straps plus the [crude] hardware.

Thanks for the reply Anton!! I figured as much but thought I would throw the Hail Mary post anyway.

I ordered this CamJam tie down to see if this is an inexpensive fix. I have extra S hooks from other tie down systems and this CamJam product allows you to create a loop which I can attach to the S hook and then create tension to tie down the one corner. Will let you know how well it works.

With the S-hook in the above post, does anyone have problems with this coming loose from the trailer? I do not tighten my straps very much, but it is tight enough that you cannot get anything under the strap on top of the hull. Still, they come loose from the trailer. It seems there should be more curve or a more closed end on the S-hook.

I put the S hook on the frame portion or on the thin eyelets that are installed for strap connections. Same problem.

Any similar experiences?

Thanks,
Ted

Maybe you have some flex in the trailer that slackens the straps as you drive. I think the S cannot be too deep or the cam-over action will not have enough action to let you hook it up. I have not installed mine yet but I hope to this weekend.
