I did not find results in my search, so I am asking for advice. I have a 1989 H16 and thinking about buying some used EPO rudder blades. All the ones I have looked at are pre-drilled with holes for the upper casting already. That is great as long as they align with what I've got. Are the 1990's - 2000's H16 rudder blade holes in the same place as a 1989 set? Or should I be looking for a certain vintage of rudder blade if I don't want to drill new holes? Thanks Scott |

This may not exactly answer your question, but I ran my '85 EPOs on my '98 H16 with no problems. You should be fine if the upper castings are (rake) adjustable (stock '89s should be). |

I've adjusted rudder rake with that set screw in the casting, so it sounds like I should be OK with newer rudder blades. Thank you |

Go fer it. Worse case you fill em with epoxy and re-drill. No biggie. |

ha - no biggie to guys who are handy. For me, this would be 3 trips to the hardware store and a misprint of the template and a lot of cussing. I would really like to buy blades with holes that fit. I can run a ratchet OK. I would REALLY like to buy EPO3 blades, but there is no way I am spending $900 on rudders especially when I have to drill them (and I beach my boat every week). If I can find some affordable black ones that upgrade my old chipped nylon ones, I would be happy. |

If you like the way your current rudders are drilled, they are your template. Just lay your old rudder on top of your new rudder (have someone else hold them, or clamp together) and mark/drill your new holes. Easy peasy. Jim |
