Post subject:  BREAKPOINT, a finished restoration project.
Just finished the last of the major details that I have wanted to do on my Hobie 16. I started with hulls from the mid 80's and went from there. Pretty much everything have been upgraded to be near modern standards or some custom alternatives. Trailer was also completely rebuilt and I added the storage totes and sail tube.

Wow you have done a fantastic job! I love your shinny black hulls and custom red sails, just looks awesome!!!!
Any chance you can host these images and provide a link as I'd love to share them on my Hobie facebook group. Alternatively I can copy and paste but would like your permission first.

It is a great idea, I have it myself but don't let water get in it because its almost impossible to get it dry again

It's more expensive, but if you go with double walled corrugated pipe the inside is smooth.

Very tidy 16.. All the effort you've put into the resto has been well rewarded.

Love the GoPro mount also.

What sort of condition was the mast in before the restoration? Its come up beautifully. I now have a new project lol

The mast is in great shape. I started with a late 70's boat that I got the trailer with. Below it the pict of what I started with.

The boom was bent - traded it with a friend for a spare he had that was straight
The mast had the old style base that didn't have the pin to go through to keep it from getting away while stepping so I had to upgrade that.

I started with those hulls, but they were pretty much junk from blistering so for pretty cheep I found another boat without a mast, trailer, sails, decent rigging and a never used new tramp. With all that and more parts cobbled together from stuff I bought or traded with friends is what culminated in Breakpoint.

Agreed! Let's get you out to the spring race at Crescent Sail and Yacht Club! I would love to see some H16's out there. If we can get a couple, I will bring mine down.
