| Post subject: | the best soft spot repair |
so i have read a few differing theories on soft spot repair. i have heard of git rot, the west system. i have also heard or differing depths to drill, also which epoxy has the best handling characteristics and also the best hardening chraracteristics to fit the hobie? one topic said to do it in a cool area to let the epoxy really seep into every nook and cranny before it sets up. others say you have to be in a warm area in order for this repair to work. i have also read that you need to some moisture in the foam so that reaction takes place. and then once again others say that is needs to completely dry out! which is the best method!? i just bought my bought, i pulled the pontoon off and have it in my garage and am waiting to hear and/or read about the best delamination repair so i can get my boat going and out on the water. thanks ---zeph |

Git-Rot Epoxy Dry Foam. There is nothing good about water in the layup / foam core. Cool place (has to be warm enough to kick and cure. Direct sun and heat can cause it to kick too quickly and damage the boat structure by getting too hot (cure creates its own heat). Cooler takes longer. The package has the best working temps listed on it. |
