Is there a kind soul out there that could measure and tell me the distance aft from the center of the mast step to the center of the shroud mounting points? I am building a small 19' trimaran and using the rigging and sails from my 16, BUT I sold the hulls to somebody who needed them, and forgot to measure before he took them away! Now I'm trying to figure out where on my akas (beams) to put the shroud mounting hardware. I'd be most grateful! ~LeeV |

You're asking for only one dimension but truly you're working in 3. Not only is the shroud 18 to 24inches behind the mast base, it's also like 4ft out from center and like 10 inches below the mast base. Being a trimaran you have made do you have a mounting point anywhere close to the relative mounting on a H16? I would use your forestay and a few temporary shrouds tied on to get your mast approximated with your desired rake, and then mount the shrouds anywhere that is strong enough that the length fits. Remember that going to far back will limit your main from opening up for going down wind. You may need to re-swag your shrouds to get them to the right spot, but shoot for 18 to 20 inches behind the mast base. Mount using the middle hole of the pin adjuster so you have options afterwards |

I'm just trying to get a ball park of the distance on the H16. In afterthought, I should have asked for the distance from the centerline as well. Regardless, it'll still take some experimentation. Thanks. |
