Pulled the plug for simplicity sake and the fact that I will be handing this off to a couple teen agers as soon as they are comfortable sailing I bought a used H 16. Took it out for a shake down cruise and noticed the jib really gets stuck on the mast. Any trick to eliminate or lessen this? Rudders are hard to put down and lock. I don't want to loosen to the point of getting sloppy. Other than that things seemed to go ok, may need a little personal tweeking here and there but after 20 years since I tugged a line it felt good to be back on a cat! |

had same issue on my H21. I ran a 10 inch shock cord from mast to tramp...just enough to shield the mast foot. |

The H16 has a different problem due to the jib battens getting caught on the mast or halyards. This subject has been discussed many times. Try the search function. thanks the jib may have been a issue because of real light wind. I'll address the rudders this week!@ |

Hobie super battens! Trim them so only an inch or so sticks out when battens are tight. http://sailsportmarine.com/index.php?ma ... 3490bd63a1 Run main halyard behind the shroud and cleat after raising sail. In super light wind you'll have to make your tacks faster/better and even sometimes yank the sail across by hand manually. No biggie. |
