Post subject: | Leaky Hull on new H16 |
I have a brand spanking new hobie 16. It was in the Pamlico Sound almost every day for the past two week. At the end of each day, I opened the drain plugs. The starboard hull was dry as a bone every time, however the port hull was swamped. Is anyone out there familiar with a method to locate the leak? I am imagining pressurized air may be the solution. Thanks ! |

Pressurize the hull lightly (The best/easiest way IMO is to insert a short rubber tube into the drain plug and blow air in using your lungs. Wrap tape around the end of the tube as needed to get a tight seal.). Have someone spray the hull down using a squirt bottle filled with soapy water solution. The bubbles will indicate the source of the leak. Spray every fitting, the entire hull seam, and where the pylons enter the deck. My guess would be if the boat is brand new, it should be covered by warranty, but definitely still good to have the supporting info. sm |
