Post subject:  Aussie vs. standard jib halyard
I just installed an Aussie halyard. I noticed that my mast pulls much further forward than with my old style. I have been reading about the positives of mast rake so I shortened my shrouds by moving down on the adjusters. It still seems to run the mast further forward than before. Is this normal for the Aussie?

The Aussie setup allows full adjustment of your mast rake which enables you to better rig for the presented conditions against crew weight etc.
If your unsure about these settings use the forum search function or google (which will lead you back to the forums). Tones of good reading on the areas of adjustment to be played with even for the social sailor like myself =)

Jib halyards can only pull the mast forward as far as the shrouds allow. You always pull until the shrouds are tight. It that respect there is no change in the system. Maybe you had also moved the shrouds?

Or maybe you are judging based on forestay slack (new forestay is probably longer)?

Sounds likely. As Matt Miller said, the mast only goes so far forward, no matter what is pulling it.
