Hi all, I'm sure we are all familiar with the red $100 butt bucket/diaper/harness that hobie sells. I have one and its quite nice, but I need to get another harness for my crew. I was wondering if there were cheaper harnesses or if any of you had ideas on harness alternatives that my ever-changing-crew could wear? -Evan |

I got a great retro harness off ebay that matches my sail, full shoulder strap, nothing like the new ones lol, but it was $35, great price, works great tho. |

I purchase both of mine off E-bay back when it was not a commercial business and got them for about $10 each. They are the standard Hobie butt buckets and work fine. Plenty of support if you lean into them and relax. For a long time I found myself bracing and really tightening up when out on the trap. As soon as I got to the point of relaxing and trusting the trap they were fine. You might consider stitching up your own. I used a worn out one for a pattern and used some heavy nylon ripstop material and thin closed foam inside for some shape and support and I really like it. I also fabricated a bar with a hook, but you could use the one commercially available. |
