In SE Michigan, we have had beautiful weather since Nov 1st. I have really wanted to get out sailing one last time, but work is getting in the way. I still have to winterize the cottage, so I may not be able to this weekend, either. Has anyone from the northern climates taken a 'Last Gasp of Summer' sail? Tell us about it, and make me jeolous! |

I'm to far from my boat to get out on the week night otherwise I'd have a tale for you. However on a facebook site there was a guy on tuesday that sailed from noon until sunset, he launched at Muskegon and was out in lake Michigan, said if the wind had been any stronger he may have not went out alone, and he's a pretty skilled sailor. |

We sail Muskegon Lake. I had hoped to take our TI out for a color tour video run. We even bought kayak pants and launch boots and socks, knowing we'd need them in the spring when the ice melts anyway. But it suddenly turned frigidly cold, rainy, and windy late in October. When Muskegon Lake gets little whitecaps, we know it takes sailors with more experience than us to stay safe! We wrapped her all up and put her in winter storage. This past week of "Indian Summer" had us really wanting to get her out but it wasn't in the cards. We did stop by the warehouse and loosen up all our bungies. Gosh, it's going to be a long winter! ~ Chris |

I have been done since the very end of September, I'm pretty much done with wetsuit seasons. |

Yes, during those few days it was VERY tempting to take a day off and go out sailing. I am only about an hour away from where I store and launch the boat, so it would have been doable, but I put my job high on the priority list that day and didn't go. Since I posted that, it has gotten colder and windier each day. We now have sustained 40mph winds on the lake today and low 50 temps, so it would be pretty miserable out there. I ended up dropping the mast and storing everything away for the winter. There is a small chance that I drag it down to Florida for a few days in January. That would be a blast, but I think the likelihood is low. |

When ever its windy out, or even crazy windy, ( 30+ ) . If I look at a lake, I just sit there and stare, and think about Sailing, even if its cold. |

Amen to that. I love staring at the water, and dreaming about sailing. |
