Hello I'm new in this forum. I'm from Italy ( so pardon me for language mistakes ) I just bought a pretty old cat France manufactured i think and i'm very happy that i will spend the winter refitting it. ( i find this forum quite interesting ) here some question one is regarding the aluminium plate riveted on the rear crossbar that has been completely delated Is it possible to have a new one ? I asked the italian distributor for the item ADJUSTER SCREW ( nylon ) 8032001 but they told me is not any more available is it correct ? Can i race with an old cat ( i will try also to discover how old is it )? By the way i'm a classic sailor and i resisted since many years to accept cat as a boat, but now i'm becaming a real cat maniac even if i never sailed one... Advanced thanks for answers |

Regarding the identification plate - this is probably required by the EU to register the boat, since it would have the boat's hull identification number (HIN) on it. An HIN is required to insure the boat. Other than that, I can't think of a reason to have it replaced, even if Hobie Cat Europe could (they may not be able to determine the HIN). If you have the HIN on ownership documents, they may be able to issue a new plate - you'll need to contact them. The adjuster screw is available from Murray's in the USA (http://www.murrays.com/50-8032001.html), but it's not required for the proper operation of the rudder lock-down system. The rudders generally need to be raked as far forward as possible, so the adjuster screw is not used - the rudder is stopped by the casting, not the screw. |
