Hi all, My Hobie is permanently rigged at my local club, but I need to do some work on the mast and will have to remove the mast for this. I'm obviously not experienced with this as mine is always up... I will have at least another pair of helping hands, maybe more. I won't be raising and lowering the mast often either. My question is whether the step link is necessary in this case. I live in the Cayman Islands so things take a while to get here and I'd like to do the work this weekend. If it is ok to not use the link, what is the best way to go about it? I have gone online to read/watch but I almost always see them using the link. Thanks for your time, James |

Use a length / loop of line around the striker post and up behind the crossbar then to the halyard cleats. Then as you drop. The crew can hold the base in the cup, but the line will be for safety. Same going up. |

When I got mine the previous owner used 2 shackles linked together. Worked well . Sent from my SM-S975L using Tapatalk |
