Hello, new Hobie 16 owner ('86 I think). Rigged it up and took it out for the first time today. It has a fairly new trampoline in good condition but noticed near the mast on both sides that the tramp had slipped out from the channel and pulled out about 12 inches both sides. Really jammed in there now, it doesn't come out further (this may be a problem). To be honest, I didn't notice if it was out a bit before we started but it was definitely not like it is now. I'm gong to undo all the ties and try to pull it out to rethread it but wondering if this is likely a problem with the channel or maybe the tramp? Common/unusual problem? Any advice appreciated.

Be sure it is pulled all the way forward in the sidebar. Tension the center lace a few grommets near the mast. The locks the tramp forward. If you pull too hard at the aft... the side can slip aft and come out the track opening slot. Tension the aft lightly. Tension the center... then tighten the aft lace again.

If the rope is flattened, it could start to pull out. You can thicken up the front end by stuffing something like knitting needle or thin nylon rod in next to the rope.

Hobie OEM tramp or aftermarket? If aftermarket, it may have a smaller diameter bolt rope.

On my 83 someone stuffed a wooden dowel in along the tramp. No luck getting this tramp out again alive. I think I'll have to cut the rope to shreds to get it out.
There are tramp clamps that act as a shim to help to keep the tramp from pulling out.

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely be back here for more advice at some point! I'm going to get some of those tramp clamps, I have the sense that the rope is a bit flattened, I can't think of any other good reasons for it to come out as it seems to be in a reasonable position everywhere else.

When you re-seat your tramp, check the crossbar inside the tramp track area for cracks. Just last week I saw a tramp that pulled out of its track because the crossbar had developed a crack inside the tramp track which allowed the tramp track to spread apart under load.
