My wire main halyard parted. I found halyards on eBay with both ends with the proper fittings. I haven't dropped the mast yet so I'm wondering if the ready made eye on the halyard will fit through the closed sheave. |

Hi shippilot,I don't think so.I replaced my broken sheave years ago and if I remember the halyard eye doesn't go through.If you're installing a new one the eye shouldn't be crimped at one end for that reason.You will need to crimp it yourself if you have the tool or bring the mast head in to a sail shop. |

Robbor or anyone: I AM LOOKING TO REPLACE MAST TIP SHEAVE OR BETTER YET, COMPLETE TIP , FOR NON COM TIP MAST.. WHERE CAN I GET JUST THE SHEVE, AS I UNDER STAND REPLACEMENT MAST TIPS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE? DO I HAVE TO CONVERT TO COM TIP? OR HAS ANYONE USED A STANDARD HALYARD BLOCK LIKE MOST BOATS USE? (WITH ROPE HALYARD, NOT WIRE) |

Hobiejoel,I had the same problem.(damaged sheave)I was lucky enough to find a used one through a now ex Hobie dealer on this forum page.(Jeremy @SurfCity Catamarans) I believe it came off a bent/broken mast.You may need to start e-mailing all the dealers to see if they have any kicking around or place an ad here on the Hobie website or The BeachCats website. The only issue I see with using a rope halyard is you won't have the metal lugs,blocks or whatever you call 'em to lock in the sail at the top of the mast. |
