Hey All, I'm in the middle of a cosmetic upgrade and have drilled all of the rivits out of the corner castings to get the frame reannodised (see previous post). My question is: can anyone tell me the exact size of the rivits I will need for reassembly? My hobie dealer sells em for.75 each plus shipping which will be kind of salty since i'll need 41 of em for the reassembly. I think that a company (fastenal) in the town where I live may carry them and could probably save some money by buying them in bulk. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. cory |

Well, after a closer examination of my hobie catalog I see that all of the rivits aren't the same, so I think i'll not skimp on this and just go hobie. Cory |

Not to turn business away from your dealer, but I would go to Fastenal, McMaster-Carr, or Jamestown Distributors to get your rivets. You will get a much better deal at any of those places. Fastenal is probably your best bet. If you take a look at the parts list in the very back of your catalog it will tell you what each rivet is. Just bring it to Fastenal and they will take care of you. Heck, they may even give you samples. It happens to me with my work all the time. |

Hey Nick, I went to fastenal with my catalog and they had no idea what the specific rivets were. Unfortunatly they dont have a way to transfer the hobie numbers over to theirs or in actual measurements. Can anyone give me the actual measurements of these Hobie catalog number and descript. 8010181 6-4 PN HD MONEL 8010201 3/16 x 3/8 CSK 6-8 PN HD MONEL btw, I would very much like to support my local hobie dealer but, I was treated so incredibly bad after they had my money in their hands that I wil NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER do business with them again. I have been using a hobie dealer that is about 120 miles from here that has been great to me. thanks, Cory |

Cory, The guys at fastenal couldn't find the rivets? maybe if you show them the numbers without the Hobie part numbers. for example: 6-4 Pan Head Monel 3/16 x 3/8 counter sunk (check on the material, it depends on where it is used.) 6-8 Pan Head Monel These are standard rivets (the monel material may be a "special order") |

Honestly, you'll probably be fine just using stainless rivets...easier to find, and cheaper. |

The person @ fastenal i'm working with contacted his "Rivet guy" and was able to get the sizes that I need. Now, he's just looking into see if I have to order larger quantities or if I can just order the amount I need. I'll let you know what I find out. Cory |
