Post subject:  Jib halyard

I bought a 2009 hobie 16. I have only raced older 16's so that is what I am used too. Soemthing that I thought was weird on the mast the pully and cleet for the jib halyard are in the very front of the mast. I can't help but think the jib is going to get caught up on the halyard on every tack. All other boats I've raced the pullys and cleet have been on the port side of the mast to keep the halyard out of the way. Does it need to be moved or is that normal in newer boats? If that is normal how does the jib not get caught up all the time?

I have 2008 H16, Jib hangs on halyard when tacking are rare, and only in light air.

I put a grip on my mast to pull the halyard out of the way. In light air, it is an issue.
