Hey everyone, I am looking for a Hobie 16 in the Pacific Northwest. Hopefully around the Seattle area. I have only found two so far and they both had soft decks in front of the tramp posts. Just so I know for sure, is it normal to have some flex in that area or should it be completely solid? One of them had bottom job done recently but I'm worried to buy something with soft spots. If anyone has one for sale in this area let me know!

You should try getting in touch with one of the Fleet 95 folks http://hcana.hobieclass.com/hobie-fleets/

They would probably go look at a boat with you.

A slight amount of flex in the large, broad areas of the hull (like the sides of the hull) is normal, but on brand new boats it can be almost imperceptible (have to push down with all or most of your weight). If you can easily flex the deck by pushing down on it with your hand, then it is going soft.

Thanks for the responses! I found an 81 with rock solid hulls. I'm glad I passed on the other ones. I'll definitely get in touch with a fleet and find out what local events are going on.
