I finally figured out how to post a picture on here and now you all will suffer, lol. ![]() My signature now shows my H16, (last pic). She is a 1984 model with Yellow Nationals sails, I call her Yellow Fever. Now I need to figure out how to resize the pic so it's not so huge for a signature pic. These pics are from the ad that sold me on the boat. Hope you all like her. |

Thanks, I like the cover also, it keeps everything protected. This boat was kept in a garage but I do not have a garage so, the cover is good. I recently purchased a 11'x19' tarp from Harbor Freight that will go over the whole boat also. |

Very nice! the yellow/black combo really pops I have exactly the same H16, same year, same sails.... I have added all the recommended updates, - aussie jib halyard - 6:1 down haul - EPO rudder blades - Harken 6:1 carbo main blocks w/5/16"dia sheet - new bridles & shrouds to allow maximum mast rake - trimmed the jib foot to allow full sheeting The boat is just amazing to sail with the upgrades I won't be able to sail for a few months..... water is too hard, air is too cold (-8c today) We'll be doing some downhill skiing to help pass the time...... Enjoy your Hobie |

Thanks Dave. When I was looking for a H16, I saw this one and was immediately hooked. I have not seen another 84 model with black corner castings. I asked the seller about that and he told me it was like that when he purchased it. I don't know if it was a special order thing, but all of the models of that year that I have seen that have the black anodized frames don't have black corners. I'm sure someone can clarify this. I painted the rudders with Rustoleum 2x primer and paint rattle can stuff after wet sanding. I wanted the rudders black to match the rest of the black on the boat. I am thinking of adding a little yellow pattern at the tips to give a little color. As for upgrades, I am going to enjoy this boat for a while as it is all original and maybe upgrade some things later. I'm a purist lol. Thanks to all for looking her over and keep the comments coming. Thought Mr. Miller would appreciate the vintage literature, the instructor in that one pic looks like it was based on him. Hahaha. Cheers and Have a Hobie Day!!! |

Marty, Where was your beach shot taken? Along the Gulf? |

Oh wow, that's some cool stuff, thanks!!! The beach shots were taken in Seagrove Beach, FL, in South Walton county which is along the Gulf Coast in the panhandle between Destin and Panama City. 30A country is beautiful!!! |

Thank you. I want to add that this boat also has dual trapezes. The previous owner didn't use them and everything is coiled up in a box along with two unused old style "butt bucket" Hobie harnesses. |

I have the same '84 16. Your corner castings are still black because they were covered, otherwise they would look more like your rudder castings. Some anodized parts fade faster than others. My sails are different, as I have a second panel of yellow below the prism. And the numbers are on the prism stripes, go figure. |

Ever since I've had the boat, not quite a year yet, I remove the entire steering system, except for the rudder castings, and store them indoors. Aside from painting, is there a way to restore the color on faded black anodized pieces? |

Thanks to Photobucket changing the terms of usage, all of my pics in this thread are not showing anymore. I don't think I want to pay Photobucket the $399.99 fee for 3rd party hosting so it's bye bye to them. What picture hosting site do most people use to post pics in a forum these days? |

I use photobucket too and all of my pictures are still showing. Although I just went to the site and it is so slow now and ads pop up every 10 seconds. Photo bucket is out! |
