Post subject: | Single sheave to double???!! |
Hi everyone I have been asked to sort out "another" old hobie 16 here in Kuwait. The boat isn't bad and can live again, but the mast head that houses the sheave is bent to the point that hoisting the sail is difficult. I will replace this but I see the original single sheave design is discontinued. Questions to the crowd: Will the Comptip head mast head double sheave work in place of the single on a full aluminium mast? If it does do I need to order a new halyard or not - current one is ok. I would rather not. If the single sheave head cannot be replaced by the double - what are my options for new replacement? Thanks in advance Ecosset4 |

Yes, plus the CompTip halyard. Since you are in the middle east, you can also source parts from Hobie Cat Europe. They have the single sheave still. |

Thanks Matt. Marching on. I think there were many hobies being sailed here pre invasion, and now they want them resurrected! There is very little sailing knowledge out here and after I fixed one boat and got it sailing (hobie17), they have told their friends and off we go! Will be great to see lots of boats back on the water I hope. Ecosset4 |
