I am looking for a vendor that premixes gel coat in the OEM colors. I have tried the repair kits and found out I am color blind and cannot get a good match. I received a Hobie 16 last fall and the hulls had some deep scratches that it appears one of the owners tried to sand out and sanded down to the fiberglass. To repair it epoxy was applied over the scratches and bare fiberglass. It least they did not leave the fiberglass bare. The exopy yellowed must have been a long time ago it was repaired. |

Anything other than white is going to be tough. If if the new gel coat color was OEM, the color on the boat has almost certainly faded, requiring a custom match. Most good fiberglass shops have someone who's a guru in matching colors. My advice would be to take the boat to them if a perfect match is that important. Otherwise, just get it close enough and go sailing. |
