Post subject: | What do I need to run Trapeze? |
I just bought a Hobie 16 and am looking to set it up for trapeze. I've sailed lasers and such, but am looking to try something new. I have been looking online and am having trouble figuring out what I need to get in order to rig my Hobie for trap. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Background on the boat: It's a 1979 with standard rigging. She's in good shape and I am looking forward to learning how to sail her properly. As far as I can tell, she has none of the trap rigging, so I am starting out fresh there. |

The simplest system is shown at the bottom of P. 52 in the catalog: https://static.hobiecat.com/digital_ass ... 1490960951 It consists of trap wires (2), 1/4 " (I use a strong 3/16") trap lines (2), dog bones (2), rope locks (2), and about six (?) feet of 1/4" shockcord. The upper end of the trap wires are attached to the mast tang like your shrouds. I use shockcord hooks to attach shockcord to the bottom ends fo the trap lines (rather than the hog rings shown)......you can get by just tying the scockcord to a loop in the trap line with half hitches. Double all this for double trapeze system, if desired. Oh, and you'll need trap harness(es). |
