Hello, I noticed that, every times, after sailing, when I empty the hulls, there are parts of fiber glass that comes out with the water. This happens on both hulls. I bought this boat few months ago, and I didn't notice any repairs on the hulls. It is year 2000. Here is the pic: ![]() Dou you know if it is a serious issue ? |

Almost certainly not. Are you sure it's not pieces of deteriorated polyethylene sheet? The flotation blocks (made of Styrofoam) are enclosed in a polyethylene bag during the hull assembly process to keep the resin fumes from attacking the foam. After so many years, the polyethylene becomes brittle and the motion of the blocks inside the hull breaks it into little pieces. If it is fiberglass, it's probably just trimming shards that ended up in the deck (built upside down) or the hull during the construction process. |

Hello, Thank you for you answer. After reading your message I'm finally not sure that it is fiberglass. I am pleased to read that it's not a big issue. Thank you! Nicolas |

Just make sure it doesn't clog up the drain so much that the water won't completely drain out. Then you would have a problem. sm |

I would be more concerned to find where the water is entering. |

That is definitely the polyethylene that Matt discussed. Jim |

Thank you very much! Concerning water: I need to find where it is entering. I will probably try to "inflate" the hull with air and find leak locations. When sailing during 4 hours, in the left hull, there are approximately 0.5 liters of water. Much less in the right one. Nicolas |

In my book, 0.5 Liters in 4 hours equates to hardly worth the effort to search out the leak. All the Hobies I've owned have leaked at least a little in one hull or the other. sm |
