I have an 82 H16 and when I switched to a 6:1 Harken main sheet system, I used the boom hanger closest to the mast. This hanger makes the blocks more vertical when tight sheeting.

I was told by matt Bounds the rearward tends to be better as is pulls the boom forward to keep the mast from counter rotating

Either one will work. It's really a matter of preference.

The rear one puts more angle on the block stack and the cleat points up, making it easier to uncleat (and harder to cleat).

My harken 6:1 blocks from my Nacra have a post on the lower block that is slightly larger than the bracket on the hobie travel car so it wont fit in and the shackle pin size is .250 on the Harken post

1.) Is there a hobie bracket that will except the larger post ?

I found polymer sleeve bearings that are 3/16 ID & 1/4 OD for the Hobie quick pin that holds the seaway blocks to the hobie car so it would take the slop out of the harken post.

For this weekend I just used a U shackle to attach the Harken blocks to the pin in the hobie travel car.

2.) Is there a better solution besides this?

Bend the tabs on the traveler car open slightly or grind/file the attachment fitting on the bottom block slightly until it fits into the traveler car.
