| Post subject: | Arriba Fiberglass Hiking Stick |
I'm looking for a new tiller extension to replace the Arriba FX3 that I snapped while getting out on the trap (picture sequence below). I guess I overloaded it or fatigued it too many times. Anyway, I can't find anyone with the Arriba Fiberglass Hiking Sticks in stock. One place told me they are done making them? Can anyone confirm or give me a source that still has stock?

I found the same thing when I did an internet search for one. Out of stock and no longer made.

Ben Hall,formerly of Hall Spars,makes a great flexible Carbon Fibre Tiller extension.A lot of the foiling A Cat guys use them and swear by them.Here is his contact. [email protected] |

They quit manufacturing some time ago. We are trying to get the tooling to bring them back, but the guys are unresponsive. |

Fiberglass tiller extensions are really not going to last that long if you keep flexing it like that getting out on the wire. These Carbon Fibre tiller extensions Ben Hall builds are designed to flex,really good deal on a tiller extension that is not only light but will take a lot of abuse.Like I said the foiling A Class and 49 Skiff guys are using them and they have put them thru a lot of punishment |

I've got an Arriba stick, I guess I need to take good care of it since it's not made anymore. Wasn't the Hobie Hot Stick the same thing? By the way, big shout out to Brad Davis, I'm a huge fan of your videos and still watch them all of the time. My favorite is when you were at Ft Walton in Choctawhatchee bay. I sailed from that very park just this past August. When we go down there, we stay at Destin West condos which is very close to the park. I grew up in Niceville, so I spent a lot of time sailing the bayous and bay there. |

Here is a pic from last August in Choctawhatchee bay. If you zoom in, you'll see Destin West condos to the left and the Shalimar bridge to the right. I am holding my Arriba. This is likely a high-jack of this thread..... I am experiencing challenges with my FX-4....it does not want to 'lock' from the 'closed' to about '12"' up. Yes, I got some sand in it last year when we did a shallow water practice capsize, but I did wash it out carefully. Is there anything I can do or any adjustment I can make to ensure it locks at all lengths? It has about 5 years of once a week racing round the cans, during the summer months, plus the odd regatta. |

Does it just spin? Open all the way up. Note that the inside shaft has what looks like an offset... high point along the length. Paint some resin along the top of this edge. Sand lightly. Test. Repeat if needed. |
