Post subject: | Shipping a Hobie 16 |
Hi, I am planning to buy a Hobie 16 for this summer for myself. However, I live in the Canadian maritimes, and there are no 16's in the classifieds local enough for me to pick them up. I've been looking at some boats from the US and distant provinces, and I was wondering how to go about shipping a Hobie. For all you with shipping experience: how much does shipping cost, and what companies should I be looking at to get one shipped? distance would probably be 600-800 miles, potentially with a border crossing. Thanks. |

The results might shock you, as the 26' mast requires space, and that costs $. I suppose if everything is on trailer, it will be easier, try the car transport guys, who are not cheap. Recently, I was quoted US$600 to ship a set of wings (all up, under 100 lbs) from PA to Ottawa Ontario. The problem is that the 'package' does not 'fit' the traditional mode, which means surcharges. I see a road trip in your future.... |
