Hey everyone, I am new to sailing and considering the purchase of an older H16. The rigging and sails seem to be in good working order for the most part. There are a couple soft spots on one of the hulls, which I intend to fix, but I’m wondering if I should be concerned about a few hairline cracks in the fiberglass around where one of the trampoline mounts are. Is this cause for concern? Thanks |

Hairline cracks are pretty common around the pylons, but soft spots should be avoided if possible. I've gone the soft hull/repair route before and it's a lot less headache/hassle if you can find a solid boat. |

Agreed. Find a solid boat. You need to spend time learning to sail, not fixing boats. A hull with "a couple of soft spots" is a sign that the boat should be avoided. Multiple soft spots means that most likely the hull is toast - you will likely be in for headaches, wasted money, and potentially a dangerous hull failure if you go that route. sm |
