Hi
I wonder how i could „stiffen“ my HC16 ? When i lift up the boat on one bow the other hull keeps laying on the grass until some 12 inches later the non lifted hull starts going upwards as well.

Playing the same game on an old Tornado causes the second hull to move some 2 to 3 inches after hull one starts moving upwards.

Question to you ...

Are there any settings i can change to convince hull #2 on my HC16 to move rather quick with hull #1 ?//

Very common, especially on older Hobie 14 and 16’s. Make sure the tramp is as tight as possible. You can also shim or epoxy the corner castings of the tramp frame where the crossbars and pylons are inserted.

I followed his process several years ago on my 1982 and 1984 H16s while they were on the trailer. I waited until after the epoxy cured before I re-installed the tramp and also used the Marson Big Daddy to pull the new 3/16" SS rivets.

Drill the head off of all of those old rivets in the corner castings and punch the old ones out of the hole with a 1/8" drill bit or the like. (6 in each casting). Replace them with new 1/2" x 3/16" stainless rivets. Be sure to square your boat up before you pull the new ones. The process takes less than an hour. Your boat will sound like a rain stick, but she'll be as stiff as new. If the problem still isn't fixed, shim your pylons. Hope this helps.
