I got my trailer registered so now i can get to the lake. I have no battens for my jib. Can i sail without the battens or can i sail without the jib? Im ordering some battens but id like to go out asap. |

The jib will flap bad without the battens - besides being really annoying, it's not good for the fabric. You can certainly sail without the jib - just make sure the rig is tight enough, and use a clevis pin in the forestay instead of a quick pin since it is now holding up the mast directly! |

No jib makes it hard to jibe or come around. You have to back sail to tack in most winds. Get the battons and enjoy your boat! |

If it is anything like tacking a 14 without a jib...have fun! It took me an entire summer of trying to tack without a jib to realize that in big wind it is better to be able to tack easily with the jib than to be without it and not be able to tack the boat. |
