We had a big regatta race today with little to no wind, we came in last again, this time on my boat. No neither of us are really into racing, it's living on the edge of over that makes it fun for us. Near the end of the day Pamela said "There's enough air for me to fly" so she launched her boat and showed us some of this.

She is good at flying!

I had mine up like that a few times yesterday But the wind was MUCH more unstable and I couldn't comfortably stay up for that long. I am jealous that you and her get that much stable wind to fly

Why is there a board strapped to the front crossbar?

I've had a couple of questions about the board up front. It's a righting stick, if and when she tips the boat over, she can use that to solo right the boat even though she's only 112lbs. Here's a video my friend made after coming up with the idea. It's similar with the 16.

I have seen rick whites righting pole which swings out but I haven’t seen this concept before. I assume on the 16 the padded end goes against the bottom of the hull?

Cheers

I meant to take a photo of the stick this weekend and forgot. It's has carpet and an added lip to fit into the top edge of the hull. We use a plastic cutting board screwed to one side of a 2x4 sticking out about 1 in to make the lip then staple or glue on some carpet or rubber to help keep it from sliding. You can spray the other side with truck bed coating for traction to walk up. Cheap and effective

I couldn't see the video but this sounds like a good Idea.

I would appreciate a picture when you have time.
