Hello, I’m new to the site. Both of the sheaves on my recently purchased hobie are brittle. I know new ones can be ordered, but can someone explain how to replace them? I know the old ones must be drilled out, but do you rivet new one in? Thanks for any help |

Think you need to be more specific on which sheave you’re referring to. Can you post a pic? sm |

He already described which one in the post title, Jib traveler car. I was thinking of using the same type of bolts used to replace the rivet on the rudder cams. I have heard them called sax bolts, and barrel bolts. Check here https://www.mcmaster.com/sex-bolts |

A lock nut or loctite could work. |

Lots of different iterations of the “jib traveler car” have been produced for the Hobie 16 between 1970 and 2019, which is why a pic would be helpful to understand exactly which system he has and which specific sheave needs replacing. sm |
