Got a digital hanging scale, calibrated it and weighed my 78 All up and individual weights
Here is the results
Weight boat only 246.4
Mast. 43.0
Rudder asm 26.4
Sails and blocks & boom 35.4
Total 348.8

Hi Carl,

Thanks for sharing that info. I sail a '79 and am sure it is a heavy boat. Would love to weigh it some day. I am nearby in St Clair Shores but don't store the boat here in the winter. Would love to get together to sail next summer!

All I can see is that you are North of Detroit, which is potentially anywhere! :)

So 28.8 lbs heavier than a new boat and all that weight down low. And about $14,000 cheaper - I'd say that's a good trade off...

Reading this again, it's interesting that the sails, blocks and boom are less than the mast. If I were forced to guess I would have said the opposite. My sail bag seems painfully heavy, while my mast seems relatively light. I will have to weigh them in the spring.
