Post subject:  Two more Hobie 16's

I bought a early 80's Hobie 16 last summer and have sailed it a few times. Still learning a lot about how to sail a catamaran and working out some of the bugs. I know one hull is leaking roughly 1/2 gallon every time I pull it out after a few hours sailing.
I have found a couple more of same vintage that I am able to get very reasonably. One boat has a hull that drains a pint of water when bow is raised up. It is sitting on a trailer without any drain plugs so possibly it gets water in from the drain hole. I don't think this is the reason since it is only one hull that does this. Is it possible that the corner posts would leak rain water into the hull? I will try a soap water test using positive pressure on the hull to see if I can find possible leaks. Hoping the other boat is complete as well. All of these have solid hulls when walking on them.

You know you can usually fix the leak with a bit of resin and cloth right?

Why not fix what you have instead of building a fleet of boats that ALL need work?

Experience talking....

If you need help on how to fix it there are videos and we are always happy to give tips
