Any tips on removing a broken Hobie 16 tiller end cap? I’ve drilled out the Rivet...... hmmm Look like my new end cap doesn’t have a hole in it so I guess once I get the old one off which I need some tips, will I need to drill a hole in the new one? Thanks in advance for the advice |

Even if the rivet is drilled out, there may be a burr left over that can cause the casting to hang up. Corrosion can also cause it to hang up. Once the rivet has been cleared the cap may need to be tapped out to remove. If you have a bench vice, it will make it easier to do this. If the new cap is not drilled, then insert it into the casting, rotate it until its oriented properly, and “match drill” the hole using the existing hole in the tiller arm as a guide. Then install a new rivet. sm |
