Post subject:  Mast base rivet size

I've been looking through postings regarding mast base repair, and I'm somewhat confused about the rivet size.

My H16 was built in 1981 and is 100% stock. The rivet diameter is 3/16" and I've seen rivet lengths recommended from 3/8" to 1/2". There are also varying grip lengths mentioned.

Can anyone clear this up, especially regarding the grip length?

BTW, I'm trying to get my cat on the water before my vacation ends in a few days, otherwise I would just order the rivets from a Hobie dealer. :)

Shortest grip length to do the job is required. Tool long a rivet may pop before getting fully compressed.

Rivets are listed in the parts catalog... parts guides.
