I am not sure but i think that you have to take the cornor off of the rear cross bar. then slide the traviler off, slide the nut into the track and bring it to the other side. then slide the traviler back on. then slide the second nut on. put the third hand on. then re rivit the cornor |

thx for the reply. However-I did get this far... I too, thought you'd have to remove the corner from the rear crossbar and/or remove the rivets from the end of the track(both measures seemed rather extreme) to slide in everything, but discovered that with a good extra twist I could force-twist the beveled keeper bolt(that sits down in the rear track)to line up properly(as to grabbing the inner rails of the track) but now both bolts stick up too high as to get in the way of the hiking stick being able to lay down in the spring keeper properly( I wished Hobie had included some simple instructions)aargh Part Deaux ...illustration Matt ? anyone? thx |

This is a very old kit and there has never been an instruction sheet as far as I can tell. I have a feeling that the bolts are pre-assembled in the wrong direction?. They come in the bag pre-assembled and the one I looked at seems as though the bolt for the tiller holder clip is threads-up. The head should be up and the length of threaded bold sticks down into the traveler track. |

Matt Thanks...Hmmm. That makes sense..but even flip-flopped the sheer length of the bolts still seem awfully long..so long that they would still stick up(after bottoming out in the track)and interfer with the tiller extention being able to lay down in the holder clip. (I assume that the entire third hand lines up inline w/ the track..?or i could swing out the part perpendicular out over the tiller crossbar so the tiller extention clips in over the edge of the rear crossbar?) otherwise i will cut(try to cut.. )thos stainless bolts shorter so they will both not interfer.. (Ill go out and check this again when i get home.. hard to describe Thanks.. |

The bolt for the clip is shown as 7/8" long in the parts list. The bolt should drop down into the track to keep it in alignment for the tiller. The other end and the plate is above the track by a couple nuts (stacked) width, so 7/8" seems correct. |
