Hi all, my hobie 16 came with a 12" pvc tube ttached to the trailer, but it doesnt have any caps. Before I spend $100 bucks on two caps for this thing, I was hoping to reach out here to see if anyone had more economical options |

Yes on my last trailer I cut a round piece of wood used a hinge on one side and a lock on the other. It's been quite a while but it worked very well. It was thicker wood not just like plywood. sorry just can't recall. |

3 pieces of plywood cut into circles. 2 cut at the inner diameter of the tube, one cut with a half moon, the other a whole circle. The third piece with an outer diameter bigger than the tube with another half moon. This piece gets a rectangular hole for the piece of flat stock bolted thru the tube for a padlock. Coat all the pieces with your favorite wood saturating epoxy. Put it together with the inner half moon up, the the whole circle and then the outer half moon down. Some window screen stapled on to keep the bugs out. |
