| Post subject: | Launching Hobies with a Crane |
i just got a hobie and the beach and ramps suck at my club, however there is a nice place to lower it into shallow water with a crane. if someone could help with an idea of how to construct a bridal for it that would be sweet. ideally i would like the bridal to stay on the boat at all time but i'm not sure that is all that realistic. any kind of help would be great. |

Use two tow straps. Unless you've got ports installed for storage, they'll cause trouble with lines and moving around on the tramp. JMHO |

I have done this. It works well. The center of balance is just behind the mast. You will need to play with the line lengths... I don't have the specs, but the aft lines are much longer and the forward lines are shorter (almost straight up to the hook on the hoist).. Two pairs of lines with loops (bowlines are easy) on each end. At each pylon, pass the line around and through its loop. Toss the other loop end up towards the mast on the tramp. Hook all 4 to the hoist (crane). Lift off the trailer and check the balance. Lower and adjust the lines if needed. |
