Hello everyone!
Need your professional experience on Hobbie 16.
We are sailors, but looking to buy something small and fast for double handed races. Hobbie 16 is a best option for us.
But I see a lot of them in the market, and question is better buy new 2021 or used like 2000 will do the job as well.
And what is a difference manufacture year makes? If it any ? Just looking to buy good racing cat, and understand we will need to do upgrades, but looking for suqestions on based models.
Any experience answers will help!
Thank you !

Welcome to the Forum.
You have provided very little information for a full response.
Are you racing in Club races? Hobie sanctioned races? Nationals?
Locally? Do you travel to regatta's?
Would you join HCANA?

The H16 is a wonderful catamaran for sailing, including racing. There are many fleets and many clubs, so you should find many others to race against.
The newer boats will be stiffer, and likely with crisper sails. Older boats can work just as well, if they are well maintained.
Bear in mind that to be competitive, you may have to buy a new set of sails if you acquire an older boat.
The H16 is relatively light, at 315 lbs, and performs well.
There are many used H16's around, with plenty of parts easily available from an excellent dealer network, and many H16 sailors who can offer help and advice.

Options would be a F16 catamaran, which is one of the up-and-coming classes. They too, are light and fast, with main, jib and spinaker.
They are a lot more expensive. There are fleets on the East Coast and in California that I know of.

Going to a slight larger catamaran, and also more expensive, is a F18 catamaran, such as a Hobie Tiger, Hobie Wildcat, NACRA Infusion or a C2.
These bigger boats can be a handful unless you are very experienced.

If you want really fast, consider one of the foiling catamarans, but look at the price first.
