I have a comp tip that has some definate wobble in it. It has the bolts on the side (older style) bit is a newer comp tip that I had to shorten at the top. What is the best way to get the tip resealed and firm in the aluminum mast? Thanks |

A torch with MAPP gas will help loosen up the epoxy. |

All of those guys above are right. Do exactly what they said, and add an adhesive filler to the epoxy so it has some bulk when you reset the comptip. I find that with West Systems the 404 filler works well. With Fiberglass Hawaii use the glass bubbles. Mix it like a thin milkshake. I find that with straight epo it runs, and if there is a big gap it won't bond well. Also with the torch, epoxy will start to come loose at around 140F, the comptip is a heat cured epoxy (I think it cures around 200F), but be careful to not melt the comptip. Have fun! |

The epoxy is not the seal. The seal is epoxy (A&B) foam poured in after the mast is together. If you haven't worked with epoxy foam, it is heat, humidity, and mixing time sensitive, and can/will make a mess. Done right it will seal the lower portion of the mast well. |
