Post subject: | sail cut for Comptip |
I have an 86 16 that came with a Comptip. My local area did not require it to race any of the local races and I didn't enter any regional or national events. I exchange the mast for a earlier all metal one. I noticed that the top of the sail was just about totally flat with the Comptip and I was at a major disadvantage speed wise with it when comparing it to other people I sailed with regularly. Did Hobie ever change the cut of the sail to compensate for the Comptip? I see from earlier post that the Comptip changed from the first version, did it change the stiffness and make the sail fuller at the top? Did a setup get developed to get around this or does everyone just live with it? |

So no one knows if the sail cut has been changed to compensate for the CompTip? |

Have any tuning tips come along to compensate for the CompTip? Downhaul, batten tension, batten change or maybe mast rotation? Have any performance benefits, besides the safety aspects, come to light after all this time? Better heavy wind sailing maybe? Just getting back into it and trying to find out what I have missed. Thanks |
