Malcheski Composites is making carbon (Kevlar, etc.) adjustable tiller extensions, which I assume are a modern day replacement for the Arriba Hotstick. Looks like nice work! https://www.malcheskicomposites.com/shop-tiller-extensions My question is, "Which length is best for the Hobie 16?" I know the stock Hobie fiberglass unit is 84". Malcheski makes different lengths. For the Hobie 16, would the 52"-100" version or the 62"-115" be better? In low wind, sitting toward the front of the tramp, I'm thinking that longer is better. But when sitting toward the rear of the tramp, then maybe 52"/shorter is more comfortable? Sorry I don't have much sailing time on an H16, just picked up a 2007 and need to get it set up. Thanks for your thoughts, Jeff BTW I emailed the Company and asked some questions. Martin responded quickly. Seems like a good company and a good guy! |

I sometimes get caught in offshore ocean lulls and find myself enjoying a slow sail from the front hulls while leaning on the front tramp beam. I have found that the 100" reaches fine for leisure time like this. |
