I need to pull a H16 on a grassy beach and want to keep it protected from rocks, etc. Does anyone know what works? Rolling it on fenders: any particular type / minimum size recommended? Any other idea that works and is not excessively expensive? Thank you |

Cat Trax (widely discussed on the interwebs) is the most common solution to moving a beach catamaran over the ground. They're a set of balloon tires with an axle. Surprisingly expensive if you buy them new ($500-ish), but maybe you can find a used set if you're looking to save some money. |

You can get some sections of PVC Pipe (2" or 3") and lay in front and this will help the hulls "roll" over the ground better than dragging. |

You could make a carpeted sled for the hulls and pull it up the lawn? |

I had two, 10' pieces of thin walled PVC drainage pipe. The bottom of the hulls on PVC was like ice on Teflon. Where we sailed, the car and trailer were a few steps away, so I kept the pipes on the trailer until we returned. I backed the boat to the shallow water, jumped off and held it away from the beach with the forestay. Crew got the pipes and put one at the water's edge and another about 10' farther onto the beach. By holding the sterns up (boat had handles/foot straps at the sterns), it was easy to drag it over and a good 10 feet beyond the waterline without touching the sand/gravel. |

I call them Hull Skis. Pictures are worth a thousand words. I put them on and take them off in the water holding the front of the cat on a buoy or by a friend. Takes about two minutes. Also on land, it moves around easier because the PVC pipe has a larger diameter then the radius of the hull bottoms so there is more displaced surface area.
